REVIEW: We Are FSTVL – Defected Superstars, Confetti Explosion & Jaguar Skills Bass Faces

We first heard about We Are FSTVL back in January, when it caught our attention thanks to its bright, bohemian branding and fantastic line-up. Making its debut in Upminster, Essex, the 15,000 capacity electronic dance music festival had been promoted as offering an ‘unrivaled festival experience’ with custom-built structures to give each area its own distinctive identity. With the likes of Cocoon Heroes, Speakerbox, Defected In The House and Crosstown Rebels present, there was a lot of buzz building up in the weeks leading up to Saturday 25th May and we couldn’t wait to be there!

After a 5 hour drive from Manchester to Essex, then a 90 minute check-in queue at the hotel, it was already 3pm when we arrived at Damyns Hall Aerodrome but we were greeted by a fantastic sight to lighten our mood. Everything from the entrance and wristbands to the well produced lanyards were colourfully decorated, adding to the festival/summer vibe. The weather was just ideal and an excitable, friendly buzz penetrated the air.
